Concept Hybrid

The Black Panther Design Lab uses a method called "concept hybrid" to achieve the performance characteristics desired by top players for both live and studio settings. This approach involves blending different tone woods, bearing edge profiles, counterhoop styles, lug casings, snare wires, drumheads, and shell finishes to deliver the targeted sound.

Cherry Shell

The Cherry shell offers a pre-EQ’d sound with strong response in the 400-600 Hz range for robust low-end. Additionally, it boosts the 5-7 kHz range to enhance attack, providing a vintage tone ideal for classic and alt-rock styles.

SONIClear™ Bearing Edge

The SONIClear™ Bearing Edge is a standard feature on all Black Panther Design Lab shells, allowing the drumhead to sit flatter and make better contact with the shell. This results in a clearer fundamental pitch, effortless tuning, and a significantly expanded tuning range.

Puresound® Custom Series 16-Strand Wires

The Puresound® Custom Series 16-Strand Wires are crafted from medium-gauge wire with evenly spaced standard coils to balance snare response and shell sound.

Cylinder-Drive Strainer and Butt-End Adjuster

The Cylinder-Drive Strainer and Butt-End Adjuster feature self-lubricating bearings for smooth operation, while the adjustment dial uses “micro-lock” technology for precise control, keeping the snare wires tight during play.
